Reviewed: Palmer's Amazing Body Lotions

Monday, December 26, 2016

If you've lived in the glorious city of Dubai long enough, you know that body lotions and rich moisturizers are a regular part of one's beauty arsenal. The summer season lasts for a while here, so we tend to consumer a lot of water, coconut water and slather more than required moisturizers on our faces and bodies with the hopes of creating a dry skin barrier.

While we have access to a plethora of products (there's a launch almost every month), there are some brands that have become part of my favorites list right away. I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again, Palmer's is one of them. They seem to get quite a few things right and don't fail to impress.

When the new body lotions landed on my desk, I was a bit intrigued by the Olive Oil version.

Beauty Launch: Beautiful Skin With Bioderma's Sensibio Gel Moussant Cleanser

Friday, December 16, 2016

Bioderma became a staple of my beauty arsenal the day I used the ever so popular Sensibio H20. Post the first empty bottle, I went to repurchase the stellar makeup remover and ended up paying for other skin benefiting products such as the Photoderm (sunscreen) and the Hydrabio Serum, to name a few.

It's one of those French brands that make you fall head over heels from the moment you first use it. I genuinely love Bioderma and if I could choose any 3 skincare brands, this one would definitely make the cut. Coincidentally, my go-to and all-time favorite skincare brand also happens to be French!

Bioderma is one of the few brands that excel in skincare and deliver on what they claim. Every product I've used to date hasn't failed the first impression test. And the latest from the brand, the Sensibio Gel Moussant cleanser is no different.

November Glambox Revealed

Tuesday, November 1, 2016

Let's talk about luscious locks. What's the first thing that comes to mind? TV commercials featuring models with beautiful (let's-face-it-unattainable) hair or rolling of the eyes because you know hair once damaged, is hair that will never go back to being healthy?

For me, it's Rapunzel. As a kid, right after The Little Mermaid, Rapunzel was one princess that intrigued me. I was in awe of her long, beautiful locks and pitied her for the way Grizelda treated her. Then Disney decided to revamp the princess with beyond gorgeous hair in a 20th century version known as Tangled. I loved the movie because of the new characters (Flynn) and just how empowered Rapunzel was projected to be. I mean, beauty with brains?

In my world, Rapunzel will always remain the girl with beautiful hair and kudos to the writer who penned the original story. Beautiful hair is a result of several factors. It goes without saying genes also play a vital role. Nonetheless, damaged hair or tresses that require a pick me up are easy to achieve- be it through tapping into nature or by sitting in a salon, whilst hoping the hairdresser doesn't mess up your hair.

Beauty Launch: Rimmel Scandaleyes Reloaded Mascara

Monday, October 31, 2016

Rimmel is one of those drugstore English brands that keeps churning out one good product after the other. My love affair with Rimmel first began years ago when I was gifted the Exaggerate eyeliner and the Kate Moss approved Long Lasting lipstick.

I used those two products religiously considering they were the first few makeup products in my arsenal. That beauty kit has now changed and expanded but my love for Rimmel stays constant. I particularly love their eye shadows, eyeliners and lipsticks (although I'm a matte fan, I can do with a little shine and gloss every now and then). And of course, no eye look is complete without a mascara.

To celebrate the launch of their latest Scandaleyes Reloaded mascara, they tapped into the girl who brought back strong eyebrows, Cara Delevingne. I love this girl's unique look and so thankful that she was brave enough to walk around with power eyebrows. She makes a fitting choice as Rimmel's brand ambassador!

Reviewed: Palmer's Skin Therapy Face Oil

Friday, October 21, 2016

Aren't face oil all the rage right now? I love straight-forward skincare routine that doesn't take up much of my time. I don't layer a plethora of products on my face such as serums, activators, oils and other creams because I don't have the time and neither the patience.

Having said that, there are several brands that have jumped on the face oil bandwagon. I'm not one of those who assumed a face oil would, by default reflect a greasy residue on the face post application. But my best friend was. It took a little convincing to get her to see the 'after-effects' on the face oil and today, she uses it religiously.

For as long as I can remember, I have included face oils in my skincare routine. It's become an essential now rather than an option. Skincare brands then moved from standard face oils to the ones packed with skin boosters. Each brands competes to deliver the best and there are only a few that are my favorite. Palmer's Skin Therapy Oil devised for the face just landed on that list.

A Day of Bliss At The Shangri-La Hotel's Chi Spa

Tuesday, October 18, 2016

Dubai is a city that is abundant in everything, from automobiles to food to name it, we have it (well, almost everything). It's also a city that prides itself in the best hotels and relaxation spots.

I love spas more than chocolate (well, okay not really but I do love spas). It's one of those places I go to alone because I really don't want to make small talk while having a facial or a foot massage. I know several girls who take their gang along and create a fun girls day out. While that's great once in a while, I still prefer time by myself. After all, isn't spa time all about me-time?

I discovered a hidden gem at the Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai the other day. Chi, the spa is truly one of the best spas around Dubai. For this month, they have a selection of body massages and facials for both men and women. They've also introduced a new element on their listing- the Pumpkin Spice Body Peel and Wrap. Doesn't it sound perfect for this season and just about divine?

I opted for the Rebalancing Retreat; this menu item combines a brightening facial and a deep tissue back massage. The best part about my experience? This was the first time I signed up for a back massage.

A Special Offers Filled Tuesday At City Walk, Jumeirah

Tuesday, October 11, 2016

I appreciate brands that offer something special to women especially when it comes to cosmetics. I mean, how many times have we all been swayed by Sephora's almost perfect deals and free gifts upon purchase?

Dubai is one of those cities where retailers go out of their way to construct offers that are, at times unbeatable. I shop quite a lot, in-store & online and end up buying things I may or may not use (clothes with tags still on in my wardrobe, I'm looking at you!). At times I regret not waiting for the sale/promotion period because it seems like I've just lost out on good deals.

And the most recent example is that of my purchase at Bobbi Brown. I love this brand and Bobbi has really gone out of her way to create products that are not only beautiful but also have a wonderful effect on the skin. I bought a handful of makeup the other day and then realized I should've waited for Tuesday to avail a 20% discount!

Why? Because City Walk Mall launched the second edition of Her Tuesday, where women can avail discounts at select stores in the mall. And that includes Bobbi Brown!

Diptyque Favorites

Thursday, October 6, 2016

There's something about opening a Diptyque box and immediately being transported (mentally) into a world of blossoming gardens. The fragrance of the classic white candles wafting through the room is enough to de-stress me.

Diptyque is one of my favorite brands, not only when it comes to candles but also fragrances. Take for example, the 34 Boulevard Saint-Germain or the Oud Palao. They're two of my favorites and I use them on special occasions. I always get asked (and complimented on) the fragrance I'm wearing.

Diptyque play host to distinct fragrances that you can recognize from a mile away. My friends have amassed a collection and their recommendations contribute to my collection building at the right pace.

Ajmal's Qafiya Fragrances

Wednesday, October 5, 2016

I love home-grown initiatives because they always strive to deliver something new and unique. Additionally, the local flavor they add to it is matched by none. I usually buy accessories from the local weekly fair or festivals that take place. The rings, bracelets and clutches are quite quirky and people always tend to appreciate it. Also, who wouldn't want to support the local talent? Not to be biased but, the it's incredible to see the women of the UAE realize their dreams in such a short span of time.

And talking about the UAE, the local parfumerie Ajmal collaborated with the youth of the UAE to create 2 new fragrances entitled Qafiya 1 and 2.

Saturdaze Brunch At Vida Downtown, Dubai

Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Of late, I've fallen in love with brunches. I'm not the kind of person who gets all excited at the prospect of waking up before 12pm on the weekend and driving to a venue to eat. I am very much a milk & cornflakes watching Tom & Jerry person. But when you attend a brunch and walk out of the hotel with a smile on your face ready to take on the day, that's when you know you've been to a good brunch that is worth your time (and effort).

The 3in1 restaurant at Vida Downtown never ceases to surprise me. I've been to the place several times after I discovered it last year. The quality of food and selection is always as expected (sometime, surpassing the expectation) and the vibe is quite pleasant. When they launched their new brunch, Saturdaze I was all too excited.

Brunching At The Movenpick Hotel + Giveaway

Monday, October 3, 2016

In Dubai brunches are gaining traction like never before. It's crazy how many hotels (and restaurants, alike) have revamped their brunch offering. It's also indicative of the fact that people don't tend to laze around in their PJs at home on days off anymore.

Brunches can turn into a good or bad experience and I'm glad to state that I haven't been to a bad brunch. It's purely because several hotels pay close attention to every aspect, more so than ever before making the time spent there, worthwhile.

Having said that, I visited the Movenpick Hotel for brunch. The Art of Brunch, as they call it takes place at the Fountain restaurant, every Friday until Dec 31, 2016 and features a plethora of delicious bite-sized and main course meals within different cuisines along with drinks (alcoholic and non-alcoholic).

I'm also sending my 4 lucky readers on this brunch so they can experience it themselves!

Neutrogena's Latest: The Hydro Boost Range

Saturday, October 1, 2016

Neutrogena has been one of those skincare brands whose cleansers and scrubs I usually reach out for every now and then. While the brand has released some pretty interesting products with skin treating benefits (Pink Grapefruit face scrub anyone?), there are certain products that will always be a firm favorite of mine.

While the brand constantly innovates and strives to better a person's skincare routine and the ultimate result, Neutrogena is a brand that even dermatologists in Dubai recommend. Years ago, when I visited one, she recommended the Pink Grapefruit body wash to me as I had a breakout of nasty zits only on my left shoulder blade (weird, I know). I was skeptical because I expected a chemical infused hospital grade cream to be recommended to me. Instead, the doc suggested something mild that would do the job.

She was right, because the zits disappeared within a 30 day period and I was also prescribed an allergy treatment. I think both worked to deliver on clean skin. Fast forward to 2016. An invite for the latest, Hydro Boost range popped into my inbox. I didn't hesitate to RSVP and soon enough I was talking to the people who knew the brand best.

Bourjois' Latest: The Volume Reveal Mascara

Thursday, September 29, 2016

Of late, I've grown to love Parisenne brand, Bourjois. Their makeup is a delight to use and it never fails to impress. The very first product I used was the pot blush and I was quite impressed by the color pay off and longevity. The blush, being pigmented stayed on and did not budge for 4 hours straight. Later, I was introduced to the jumbo lip crayons and then the liquid matte lipsticks. Thus began my love for Bourjois.

What I love the most about them is that there's a notable product release every season. This season they introduced a new mascara, Volume Reveal. And I'm pleasantly surprised by the results.

Reviewed: Clarisonic Mia Fit 2 and Alpha Fit

Wednesday, September 14, 2016

A couple of years ago, I read an article about how significant cleansing skin the right way was. The article also highlighted the rise of sonic cleansing devices. At that point in time, I didn't care about those devices and neither did I want to know what affect they would have on my skin. I was content with my current skincare routine.

Fast forward to 2013 and all I would come across were the propositions from different albeit well-known brands within this category. Everyone I knew jumped on the sonic cleansing bandwagon (I kid you not, even my aunt bought one). I shied away from it because the standard route of cleansing was (and still is) something I'm comfortable with.

I'm late to the party- I've only just had the chance to use Clarisonic's Mia Fit 2 and I can tell you that I'm pleasantly surprised.

Perfecting Brows With Make Up Forever's Brow Show

Tuesday, September 13, 2016

I'm glad I never messed about with my eyebrows when in high school. Shaping my eyebrows was the least of my concerns then. And I had read way too many horror stories about over plucking the two elements that frame your face. I had also witnessed some awful looking brows which were all the rage at that time (think pencil thin).

Then came along Cara Delevigne and she became the eyebrow muse. People rushed to the salons with pictures not of JLo or the Kardashians but of the British model- everyone wanted (still do) thicker looking fuller brows. There are some that are blessed with full arches that require minimal maintenance and then there's the lot that resort to either filling in their sparse brows or drawing them on.

For the latter, there's Make Up Forever's glorious brow kit that promises beautiful arches in a couple of minutes. And I can vouch for its effectiveness and ease.

Never underestimate the power of good eyebrows.

Tommy x Gigi: Tommy Hilfiger's Best Collaboration Yet

Sunday, September 11, 2016

I fell in love with Tommy Hilfiger when I bought a jacket a couple of years ago. I loved how it complimented my favorite pieces and made the entire outfit look quite beautiful. Later, I went on to purchase a watch, which even my mum loves and wears.

Over the years, I've noticed the Hilfiger collection not only improve but also stay ahead of trends be it in clothing, shoes or accessories. I particularly love Hilfiger shirts- they're quite versatile and comfortable. I love the Fall collection because that's my favorite season of the year. Does anyone remember when the brand collaborated with Zooey Deschanel? They had some beautiful pieces that were sold out real quick!

Having said that, the most recent collaboration with Gigi Hadid is, in my opinion the best. I love how the current nautical theme is brought to life whilst infusing Gigi's sense of style.

The Food Byte: Sugar Factory, Dubai

Friday, September 9, 2016

When 2016 bows down and the curtain is raised for the next year, I will proudly state that 2016 was the year I discovered some great places to eat. It's surprising because I'm a picky eater but with two of my friends transferred temporarily to the city of gold, Dubai all the way from San Fran stumbling upon food venues became an adventure.

Long gone are the days where I gravitate towards tried and tested restaurants. I also tried more seafood this year than ever before (no, seafood will never be a favorite of mine, just wanted to put it out there). I also happened to discover cafes catering to the sweet tooths (me!) in Dubai- these are cosy cafes that are perfectly secluded from the world. I still have more than a handful of places to visit!

And with this in mind, I present to you a not so secluded gem of a candy store and restaurant, Sugar Factory. Even if you don't have a sweet tooth, this venue will end up in your top places to visit on a weekend.

The Body Shop Launches Elixirs of Nature Fragrance Collection

Saturday, September 3, 2016

I discovered The Body Shop about a decade and half ago when I received a Strawberry bath gift set from a friend. I was so delighted that I proceeded to select the same gift set for my best friend. Thus began the long and happy relationship between me and The Body Shop. I went on to find out that one of my friends was using a lip color I fancied and that happened to be from one of the aisles at The Body Shop (Clover 05 is the shade in case you are wondering).

Throughout the years, the brand has launched beautiful and environmental-friendly products whilst giving back to the community in several different ways. I loved this year's initiative. My favorite body products still remain the Wild Argan range of products.

It comes as no surprise that The Body Shop continues innovating and the most recent development is the launch of their fragrance collection known as Elixirs of Nature. I will choose one word to describe the fragrances: incredible.

September Glambox Revealed

Friday, September 2, 2016

Korean beauty goodies are all the rage. I mean, have you seen Korean girls' skin? Flawless! Good genes also play a role however, that's one market that is obsessed with flawless, porcelain, blemish-free youthful skin.

Beauty products with seaweed made a huge splash in the US and European market and almost every third girl I knew was either using Korean beauty products or talking about purchasing them.

Isn't it grand when you have access to these products in UAE? And isn't it even more grand when it comes in a pretty box entitled Glambox? The month of Sept welcomes goodies that are quite exciting to discover and try. The best part? These products are available in stores located in the UAE, so you really don't have to bother about ordering online and the delivery time.

Let's unbox!

Perfecting A Matte Pout With Arcancil's Very Mat

Saturday, August 27, 2016

My lipstick collection contains 90% matte lipsticks and while I have a variety of shades, most of them are skewed towards a dusty beige rose. It's my color and even my mum frustrated that I buy lipsticks of the same/similar shade every now and then.

I get really excited when brands launch matte versions of lipsticks. And I'm grateful that I have not used a matte lipstick that has dried out my lips or given me an adverse reaction. I also tend to buy darker matte colors from time to time or go really vibrant with the likes of fuschia and indigo.

When I first discovered Arcancil's Mat Hysteria, a range of liquid matte lipsticks I fell in love with the smooth as silk consistency and the resultant application in addition to the longevity. And then, the French brand released the Very Mat range. It goes without saying that my interest piqued and eventually I got my hands on it. The verdict?

Competition: Famous Dave's

Friday, August 26, 2016

America's favorite barbecue restaurant is finally in the UAE! Famous Dave's serves up the most mean barbecue classics, burgers, sandwiches and more.

Want to win this casual dining experience for you and your family? I've partnered with Famous Dave's to giveaway a AED 250 voucher to one of my readers!

The Food Byte: Ramusake

Thursday, August 25, 2016

When I heard that Ramusake had opened its doors in Dubai, I was intrigued. Originally from South Kensington in London, Ramusake is a members only club and it has quite a few interesting dishes on the menu. Unfortunately, the London venue closed down but it made me wonder if the same structure would be replicated in Dubai. Would we have a members-only restaurant?

Not really and this is something to rejoice about. Ramusake brings the same atmosphere from London to Dubai and even has a few dishes off the original menu. Located in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), Ramusake is nestled in DoubleTree by Hilton Hotels; you will not have any parking woes thanks to the quick valet service.

I've never had Japanese cuisine before and the restaurant specializes in it, so I was quite excited to step foot into Ramusake.

Flawless Skin With Kadalys' Musaclean Gentle Clarifying Mask

Wednesday, August 24, 2016

A couple of years ago I read that Tom Cruise washes his hair with a shampoo where the main ingredient is banana. And that was the source of his healthy locks. Let's face it, he does have amazing hair (watch the third instalment of Mission Impossible 3 and you'll know exactly what I mean, or any of his movies where his character sports shoulder length hair). I wondered where I could purchase the banana based shampoo and I never ended up finding it. Fast forward to 2014 and half the magazines (print and online) featured how bananas were one of the best ingredients not only for the health but also for face and body care. There were home-made face masks, banana smoothies, banana hair masks and almost every other beauty recipe you could think of.

While I tried the banana hair mask, I vowed not to resort to a home-made hair cleanser again. Because I had proper chunks of banana still in my hair (the recipe called for it, quit judging me). I had to wash my hair thrice and use a fine-toothed comb to get rid of all the banana in the hair. The end result was great, considering I used the mask only once. It de-frizzed my hair and softened it as well.

I also happened to try the banana face mask and of course, its moisturising properties kicked in with the first use. I was uber excited when I actually found a banana based face mask that I wouldn't have to concoct at home! Say hello to a new French brand I discovered- Kadalys's Musaclean Gentle Clarifying Mask. Can you say banana power?

Reviewed: Chateau de Versailles' Jardins de Versailles Fragrance

Tuesday, August 23, 2016

I have a massive collection of fragrances at home and my friends can't really can't gift me fragrances (they fail to) because I usually buy the latest ones from brands that I have a strong loyalty towards. While I prefer more of a woody/oriental perfume, I own a handful of florals that I've re-purchased throughout the years.

I discover fragrances either when I'm in the mall and they hand over a sample strip or when someone talks about a particular one constantly. I can't exit a store empty-handed. Even if I don't intend to make a purchase and walk into a department store (Galeries Lafayette, I'm looking at you), I end up in the fragrances section in awe of the wonderful whiffs.

Discovering Chateau de Versailles, a French perfumerie was a delight. Jardins de Versailles pretty much encapsulates the fresh and pleasant whiff of the garden florals.

August Glambox Revealed

Friday, August 19, 2016

I genuinely love the concept of monthly beauty boxes. There are times I squeal with joy when opening them, and then there are times when I look at the contents with dissatisfaction. Regardless, I've discovered a plethora of brands simply through boxes like Glambox and have ended up purchasing full-sized products, some on a regular basis.

This month's box contains brands that I've been accustomed to using over the past 3 years, one more than the other.

The Food Byte: Zafran

Saturday, August 6, 2016

You know that feeling when you find a restaurant with good food and service, right? It's pure joy when the restaurant meets your expectations. I've been to several cafes, restaurants, food trucks and venues that sell a quick bite and just like several people, I have my favorites. I also have a list of restaurants who have not made my list and it's not because of the service but primarily because of the food.

While Dubai has more than a handful of  good to great restaurants, there are a few gems you discover that are worth the time and money. One such restaurant is Zafran.

Competition: Bloomsbury's Vouchers

Tuesday, August 2, 2016

Do you remember how I raved about my trip to Bloomsbury's  last summer? I feasted on Ferrero Rocher cupcakes, scones, brownies and macarons as part of the amazing Afternoon Tea. I also discovered the Orange Jasmine Tea and absolutely loved it!

And now I'm giving 3 of my readers a chance to experience all the goodies from Bloomsbury's! Vouchers worth AED 120 are up for grabs.

June Glambox Revealed

Monday, July 4, 2016

Don't we all just love surprises? Especially when they come concealed in a vibrant pink box with the name Glambox on it? It's one of those beauty boxes I look forward to every month because I discover new products (and services, at times) on and off. In addition to this, you also get vouchers across the spas, bakeries, restaurants, salons and more.

This month's box is a pretty cool one. There's a brand I discovered that I'm really excited about!

The Food Byte: Fusion Sushi at Moshi, Dubai

Tuesday, June 28, 2016

I'm not a fan of seafood. I used to happily consume fish and prawns as a kid but not anymore. Overtime, my preferences have...well, evolved and I tend to shy away from any form of seafood. I do like hammour and salmon; the best salmon I've had is back in London. Everyone I know gravitates towards particular seafood dishes and sushi tends to be (almost) everyone's favorite.

I have not had sushi to date and doubt I will in the future. Unless I lose a bet. Then it's a completely different story. Nonetheless, sometime ago I received an invite to feast at Moshi. I discovered the restaurant serves, as they state momos and sushi. I had no intentions of visiting the restaurant, for obvious reasons. The month before, a friend had mentioned Moshi to me but I barely registered what she said. Nonetheless, about 4 days later while checking my emails I spotted the invite appended with a document that highlighted the story of Moshi.

While reading it, I quickly discovered to my surprise that this isn't your traditional sushi serving restaurant.

Valleydez's Gorgeous Ramadan Collection

Monday, June 13, 2016

I love Ramadan for what it brings. Among other things, people tend to turn a new leaf, they abandon habits that don't benefit them (smoking is one!), the chefs in random people come to life, the kitchen is filled with goodies and of course, fashion is redefined in this month.

Local designers always tend to stay true to culture and religion whilst infusing the standard clothing with innovative elements. And international brands have taken note and strive to work towards checking off all the boxes. I appreciate and love the work of local designers. These are young empowered women who know exactly how to capture a woman's attention- be it through quirky accessories or crazy but cool handbags. And they apply the same when it comes to clothing.

Valleydez is one of my favorite boutiques in Dubai. Previously located at Wafi Mall, the boutique is now at Galeria Mall, Al Wasl Road. The last time I was there, I picked 3 dresses in one visit because everything is so beautiful there. And so is the new collection for Ramadan. The best bit? Buy your favorites now and flaunt them during Eid.

The Food Byte: A Dubai Iftar At Barbecue Delights

I've visited to Barbecue Delights several times and it's always a joy to have gastronomic adventures there. It's a restaurant that serves finger-licking Pakistani cuisine and has branches across the city.

It's one of those restaurants you go to with your family over the weekend. And along with your family, you invite your cousins' family as well. You consume scrumptious food, converse about anything and everything under the sun whilst Snapchatting your food adventures.

With Ramadan on-going, I was invited to try the special Iftar buffet at their Downtown Dubai branch.

A Perfect Summer With Bioderma Hydrabio Eau Soin

Sunday, June 12, 2016

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear Bioderma? For me, it's always the famed Sensibio H20, the micellar water cleanser girls across several countries utilize. And why not? It's one of the best gentle eye makeup removers that we have access to. It does the job incredibly well and does not irritate the skin or gives rise to any allergic reactions.

I take a travel sized Sensibio H20 every time I'm out of the country; it's the most handy and effective cleanser. This particular product was the first I tried from Bioderma and coincidentally it was a sample. I was in absolute awe of its performance and found myself purchasing the full-size product every 3 months or so. I went on to try different Bioderma products including the Photoderm, a moisturizing sunscreen fluid with SPF (I religiously use sunscreen!) and the Hydrabio Serum. Both products did not let me down and the Hydrabio Serum is a firm favorite of mine. Suffice to say, it works like magic on my skin- hello, hydrated skin; goodbye spots of horrid dryness.

So, when news was out that Bioderma is launching the Hydrabio Eau de Soin, I was on pins and needles.

Give Tthe Gift Of Clean Water With The Body Shop

Tuesday, June 7, 2016

Drink at least 8 glasses of water. It helps in keeping your body hydrated, skin supple, joints movement fluid, prevents headaches and a list of things.

How many times have you read or heard that? I'm willing to bet it's almost every second article regardless of the content of the website/magazine. Earth constitutes of 96% of water yet about 650 million+ people don't have access to it. Let me reiterate- they don't have access to water fit for drinking. There are families with kids who resort to contaminated water and in return end up contracting diseases that are life-threatening. Receiving treatment is another obstacle for them.

We take so many things for granted. Almost everything in our lives is of significant value (humans and objects, alike) but we only tend to devote time and attention where there's a fear of loss. When was the last time you consumed 100% of the water poured into your glass at a cafe/restaurant? We are truly blessed to have access to almost everything we wish for. Why not do your bit this Ramadan by gifting families with clean, drinkable water?

It's made easy with The Body Shop. Do you recall last year's initiative

The Food Byte: An Italian Feast At Biella

Tuesday, May 17, 2016

When I come across anything Italian, the first two things that come to mind are pasta and Tiramisu followed by handbags. Yes, quite a weird combination but can you blame me? Tiramisu is native to Italy and I'm not one to favor coffee but I make this dessert an exception.

Having said that, I paid Biella Restaurant a visit. For the longest time, I assumed Biella specialized in seafood but I stand corrected. The restaurant located in Wafi Mall, Dubai caters to those who look forward to having a good Italian meal.

The Food Byte: Dum Dum Donutterie Opens Shop In Dubai, UAE

Sunday, March 27, 2016

I love doughnuts. You don't get it. I was born with a sweet tooth, and I'm not afraid to use it. Doughnuts have been a childhood favorite. I can't remember the number of times I had the notorious chocolate glazed doughnut for lunch at school. Can a doughnut be notorious? In my books, yes. They were fried, had oodles and oodles of sugar and chocolate but still tasted so good! I bet they taste the same to date but I'm not touching them.

Desserts have seen a new light of the day- we've got fancy cupcakes, cake pops, cronuts, truffles and even ice-cream sandwiches which don't resemble anything like the traditional ones we're familiar with. Nobody's complaining. While I love macarons, doughnuts will have a special place in my heart. I mean, even Homer Simpson couldn't shut his gob when it came to the sugary fried dough with a hole.

In my opinion, the best desserts come from the Queen's country, the UK. I might be biased here but I haven't tasted a Creme Brulee so good as I did when back in London. The melt-in-your mouth, cooked to perfection custard dessert is pure perfection. And being a tea person, I'm quite picky when it comes to the kind I drink. Fortnum and Mason is my favorite tea place in the world, period. And where does it originate from? Yep, you got that right. And there's something new that we have in Dubai- the famous Dum Dum Donutterie!

Puma: Redefining Sports Style

Saturday, March 12, 2016

For as long as I can remember, Puma has been a firm favorite of mine. While my first pair of sneakers were from Fila (tennis lessons for kids can be interesting), I bought my second online (years ago) from Puma. There was something about a white pair of nifty sneakers with an elongated blue swish and an air-borne puma that intrigued me.

When my package arrived, I opened it with bated breath and the sneakers turned out to be perfect. Hurray for experiencing zero disappointed from an online purchase! I wore those sneakers regularly, much to mum's confusion, "Do you not have other shoes?". Eventually, I went on to buy a chromium Puma ring, which to this day is intact and I still wear it, on and off. It's one of those rings that is a favorite because firstly, its Puma and second, I bought it even though it didn't quite fit my finger, Don't judge me. I have a tendency to buy rings and then make them fit my finger (don't ask how). Besides, the ring was awfully wonderful to let go of. And it was the only one left.

Puma also happens to be the official kit provider of my favorite football club, Arsenal. I tell you, it was meant to be. For some odd reason, it gives me a sense of pride when I watch the Gunners racing past their opponents wearing a Puma manufactured kit.

Reviewed: Arcanil Paris' Liquid Matt Lipsticks, Mat Hysteria

Saturday, January 16, 2016

Matte lipsticks are my go-to lipstick formula. At least 80% of lipsticks collection is matte and in almost the same shade- a dusty rose. Does anyone else do that? It's a color I gravitate towards not only in a matte version but also glossy/semi-matte. I do own a handful of bold reds, bright corals, vibrant fuchsias and magnetic magentas but I always tend to lean towards the beautiful dusty rose.

Matte lipsticks can be awfully drying but thankfully, I haven't come across any to date. I hear my friends and magazine editors talk about applying a gorgeous matte lip color only to experience dry and flaky lips. They key I'd say is to do your research well and look into reliable brands that have established themselves within the beauty industry.

Almost every brand today has jumped on the matte lip color bandwagon and it's quite a delight to see the different and unique colors they concoct. I have my favorites and that list just grew with the addition of Arcancil Paris' latest, the new liquid matte lipsticks, Mat Hysteria.
